Day 01: Arrive Kochi
Upon arrival you will be welcomed by our representative & transferred to HOTEL. Kochi - formerly known as Cochin in the coastal state of Kerala. With a natural harbor that has always been one of the finest in the world. Overnight at Kochi.
Day 02: Tour Kochi
Morning, Kochi tour begins from “The Dutch Palace” also known as Mattancherry Palace, built by Portuguese in 1555, which is famous for its murals depicting scenes from the Ramayana and the puranic legends. Adjacent to the palace is the Jewish Synagogue built in 1568. Also visit the St. Francis Church, established by the Portuguese Franciscan friars in 1503. Vasco Da Gama was buried in the courtyard of this European church built in India. The tour also includes a visit to the seaside where one can still see the, nearly a century old Chinese fishing nets which are still in use. Evening witness a Kathakali, a traditional dance form depicting Indian epics (Ramayana and Mahabharata). The dancers are dressed in very colorful and elaborate costumes. Their faces are painted to depict various characters of these epics. This dance has a lot of facial expressions and brisk, yet articulate body movements. Overnight at Kochi.
Day 03: Kochi - MUNNAR (04 hrs)
Today drive to Munnar - Kerala’s principle tea growing area, driving uphill though cardamom plantations and undulating tea fields. This is a great opportunity to take some photos of a unique landscape, and hopefully see the tea pickers at work. On arrival check in. This afternoon you will have time to enjoy the cool air of the hills and take a guided walk through the plantations. Overnight at Munnar.
Day 04: Munnar - Thekkady (03 hrs)
Morning at leisure. Explore the town and visit the Tea museum. Later drive to the spice capital Thekkady, located on the Tamil Nadu - Kerala border. This unique wildlife sanctuary is about 300 square miles and centered on an artificial lake fed by the Periyar River. Upon arrival check in. Overnight at Thekkady.
Day 05: Tour Thekkady
This morning game viewing is on board boats, which carry you along convoluted waterways and afford sightings of elephant, bison, deer and occasionally tiger. This tropical habitat makes it one of the premiere reserves of southern India with all manner of flora and fauna in abundance. Return for breakfast, later visit spice plantation where you can learn about pepper, cardamom, cinnamon and vanilla among many other spices and plants. Overnight at Thekkady.
Day 06: Thekkady - Kumarakom (04 hrs)
Today drive to Kumarakom - is an emerald peninsula of paddy fields, meandering lagoons and backwaters that juts out into Lake Vembanad. Perhaps more famously knows as the Backwaters this area is unique being made up of labyrinth of canals and lakes that stretch between the capital Cochin and Quilon in the south. Upon arrival check in. Overnight at Kumarakom.
Day 07: Board Houseboat
After breakfast proceed to boat jetty to board House Boat, cruise the backwaters on one of these beautifully crafted vessels with your attentive crew - a relaxing and romantic way to explore this remarkable area. You will spend the remainder of your day cruising around the serene backwaters, a vast network of lakes, lagoons, rivers and canals and watch life go by. Overnight on board.
Day 08: Kumarakom - Kovalam beach (05 hrs)
This morning you will disembark your houseboat after breakfast at Kumarakom (checkout – 09:00 hrs). Drive to Kovalam - India's one of the best beaches for the travelers in the south of India. It consists of a number of small, palm fringed bays separated by rocky headlands. On arrival check in. Day is free for leisure. Overnight stay at Kovalam.
Day 09: Kovalam
Day at leisure. You might like to try a local ayurvedic body massage that will leave you feeling relaxed and rejuvenated. It is believed that human being consists of the five elements, air, water, fire, ether & earth. Ayurveda the traditional form of Indian medicine was developed by ancient sages whose astute observations led to the development of constitutional medicine. It was the duty of the vaidya (physician) to harmonize this imbalance of the body - mind environment. Overnight at Kovalam.
Day 10: Departure
Today we transfer to Trivandrum airport for your onward flight.
